The next-generation Audi A8 will be able to drive itself.
Stefan Moser, head of product and technology communications, told Motoring.com the upcoming redesigned A8 will be a fully autonomous, self-driving vehicle.

Moser said Audi wants to be first to sell a self-driving car and has already tested the technology by making history when an empty RS7 sports car lapped the Hockenheim race circuit at full speed.
Legislation is the only thing now standing in the way of autonomous cars, he added. In Germany, for instance, cars are legally allowed only to drive themselves for short periods of time, around 10 seconds.
Moser said a combination of cameras, radars and lasers will be the ‘eyes’ of the new A8, due in 2017. The lasers would be able to ‘see’ even in foggy conditions.
