ZF will equip Dongfeng, Kinglong, Huanghai and Yutong buses in Beijing with low-floor axles, steering systems and transmissions, for use during the 2008 Olympic Games.

ZF Friedrichshafen has received an order to provide axles and steering systems for 1,300 low-floor buses, belonging to the Beijing Public Transport Corporation (BPTC), as part of the city’s implementation of the ‘Bus Rapid Transit’ (BRT) traffic concept.

The order includes RL85A front axles and AV132 portal axles for 1,200 low-floor 12-metre buses. A further 100 low-floor 18-metre buses, which will be operated on the BRT lines, will be equipped with RL85A front axles, AV132 portal axles, non-driven AVN 132 portal axles, as steering systems and six-speed Ecomat transmission.

Once this order is eventually completed, more than 2,400 buses in Beijing will be operated with ZF low-floor technology following previous orders in 2002 and 2006.
