The S 400 4MATIC will mainly be for China, where there are tax implications for cars with large capacity engines. The Mercedes-Maybach range will be on sale there as well as in the US, Europe (RHD markets too) and elsewhere by mid-2015. While still an enormous car, it is shorter than the former Maybach 57 and will cost less too, though Daimler is yet to disclose pricing.
It has been reported that Brabus will build an even longer version of the S-Class. Expected to be called Mercedes-Pullman, it will be made at the German specialist firm’s Bottrop works from December 2015. This car is expected to be around 6,400mm long. Armoured versions of the Maybach and Pullman will almost certainly be offered.
