Mercedes-Benz says it will launch not only an “S-Class Coupe” but also “three new models” in addition to the short wheelbase and extended wheelbase variants of the new S-Class sedan.

The announcement was more or less hidden within a press release to mark the start of S-Class build at the firm’s main Sindelfingen plant near its Stuttgart headquarters. No further details were revealed, though it is believed that a stretched sedan, or sedans, to replace the Maybach 57 and 62 will be launched in 2014. As for the identity of the remaining car, speculation suggests it might be a convertible version of the as yet unseen coupe. The latter will replace the CL-Class.
