Worldwide sales of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars rose 15% in 2010, to 1,167,700 units.
The original China sales target of 120,000 units was exceeded at the end of November and full year deliveries topped out at 148,400, up 112% year on year.

Indian sales – helped by local assembly – rose 80% to 5,800 units and Russia saw record sales of 19,700 units, up 64%. In Brazil, deliveries increased 46% to 7,500 units.
CEO Dieter Zetsche said: “We were extremely successful this past year, exceeding practically all of our targets, some quite considerably. Our sales in many markets developed much better than expected. This means that our forecast for achieving sales growth of at least 10% in 2010 turned out to be more than correct.
“Prospects are looking very good in the new year. We’ve got an attractive and competitive model lineup and expect to generate additional momentum with a wide range of new products.”
