MAN Truck & Bus is taking over its Indian joint venture MAN Force Trucks.

Subject to regulatory approvals, the truckmaker hopes to close on the deal before the end of the year.

The JV was founded in 2006 and produces heavy CLA model trucks for sale in India and export to Asia and Africa.

Products include tipper chassis for the construction industry and semitrailer tractors for long-haul transport.

In 2008, MAN increased its holding in the JV from 30% to 50%.

“With this strategic investment, which is conceived as a long-term commitment, MAN Truck & Bus is underlining the great significance of the Indian market in the context of its BRIC strategy,” the company said in a statement.
