Magna will build another model for Mini at its plant in Graz, Austria, a senior BMW executive has said.
Newspaper Kleine Zeitung on Wednesday quoted BMW development head Klaus Draeger as saying Magna Steyr, which already assembles the recently launched Mini Countryman, has won a contract to build the Paceman two-door ‘sports activity coupe’, Reuters reported.

“Yes, we will have the Paceman built in Graz too,” Draeger told the paper. “As the auto is technically based on the Countryman it makes sense to go to Graz for this as well.”
Production of the Paceman – the seventh model in the Mini range – is set to start in late 2012 ahead of sales starting in 2013, the paper said.
Volume had not yet been decided but was expected to be around 20,000 units a year, it added.
