Kia Motors sales in Europe for the first seven months of 2005 totalled 159,925 units – up 61% year on year.


The Picanto supermini (small hatchback) remained the Korean brand’s best-seller in July with 7,458 deliveries. Kia’s full model range sales totalled 23,556 units.


The Picanto is also the top-selling Kia across Europe this year with a total of 49,534 units delivered, ahead of the Sorento (24,740), and Sportage SUVs (23,990).


Year-to-date to the end of July, Kia´s total sales in the leading European countries were Spain (26,642 units, +75%), Germany (24,201, +45%), Italy (23,999, +61%), the UK (23,097, +29%), the Netherlands (11,873, +45%) and France (10,230, +114%) The strongest growth in a major market was in France, due to the popularity of the diesel-engine Cerato compact and Sportage SUV models.
