Audi has ordered the development of the concept for the roof of its new A3 convertible at insolvent German auto supplier Karmann.

An Audi spokesman told Financial Times Deutschland that parent VW’s CEO Martin Winterkorn had announced the order during a visit to VW’s new Osnabrueck plant.
The spokesman did not reveal any details on the A3 model as the project was still confidential.
This is the first new order for Karmann since it filed for insolvency in April 2009.
