BMW has signed an agreement with Toyota Motor to cooperate on lithium-ion battery cells.
BMW told Dow Jones the agreement would focus on increasing performance and capacity of lithium-ion batteries through the use of new combinations of materials for cathodes, anodes and electrolytes.

Financial details weren’t disclosed.
The two automakers last December announced they’d signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on environmentally friendly vehicles and technologies. The same month, BMW and Toyota Motor Europe agreed a contract for the German automaker to supply high-efficiency 1.6- and two-litrr diesel engines to TME from 2014.
