ZF also is planning to create more new jobs by 2009 in response to the growing number of orders and requests for hybrid drives triggered by the current CO2 debate.

Said CEO Hans-Georg Härter: “With our response to these projects and requests, we will position ZF as the hybrid technology supplier to the automotive industry. In order to achieve this, we need new professionals as well as experienced engineers.”

The company is primarily looking for engineers specialised in electronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and vehicle construction.

The series of hybrid developments at ZF ranges from components and modules to complete hybrid systems.

Working in cooperation with Continental Automotive Systems, ZF is planning to offer customers comprehensive hybrid applications. Along with its expertise in conventional driveline and chassis technologies, it has extensive experience with hybrid technologies and hybrid modules consisting of electric motors, clutches and vibration dampers.

The company also has in-depth knowledge of the spatial and functional integration of hybrid modules into automotive transmissions and drivelines plus years of experience in developing software for driveline and chassis systems.

Technologies for commercial vehicles and passenger cars are developed at the main engineering centres located in Friedrichshafen, Schweinfurt, Passau, Dielingen and Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany, as well as in Detroit. Some 60% of all ZF employees work at sites in Germany.

With around 700 patent registrations each year, the automotive industry supplier is also one of Germany’s leading patent registrants. Worldwide, ZF employs around 4,500 engineers in product development including 660 specialists working in research & development in Friedrichshafen.
