The concept is 63.7 inches (1.62m) high – taller than Opel’s current production Astra and Corsa so the ‘monocab’ has plenty of height and shoulder space for four passengers.

It also features an advanced 1.6 litre 150PS natural gas turbocharged engine combined with the Easytronic automated manual transmission available with some Corsa models.

The 125 mph (200 km/h) concept, which resembles the GM Europe-designed Zafira minivan, is also claimed to be well ahead of its time internally, offering plenty of potential for innovative future interior design.

The appearance of the 159.4 in (4.05m) long, 70 in (1.78m) wide Concept M also shows some of the styling cues of the Signum2 concept displayed at European motor shows last year, as well as design features of the new Vectra hatchback, which will be launched this year.

There are four ‘sporty’, generously-sized seats, luggage compartment, roof console with integrated DVD system and centre console for storage space.

The Concept M’s cockpit features a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), allowing the driver to regulate the heating and air conditioning, and access the Internet as well as a monitor to display the usual information such as fuel tank contents.
