Despite newspaper reports in Germany, General Motors said it has made no decision about assembling the Chevrolet Cruze at its plant in Poland from the end of next year.
The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung cited an internal production plan as the source of its story but Reuters noted such speculation is not new – particularly after the carmaker confirmed the next generation model due in late 2014 would not be built in South Korea.

Reuters reported in January 2012 that there were talks between management and labour in Europe over whether to shift Cruze production from Korea to Gliwice. The news agency also noted that Gliwice would be a natural candidate for budget brand Chevrolet as it is the only low-cost Opel plant in Europe and it also builds the Astra. Both cars could likely be made on one assembly line with a minimum of additional investment.
The Cruze is also assembled in the US and, as a Holden, in Australia.
