The last vehicle – an Opel Zafira minivan – has been built at General Motors Europe’s doomed Bochum plant, according to local reports.

The dpa news agency said the factory opened in 1964 and employed 22,000 at its peak. Of the 3,000 left about 300 will remain employed at a parts operation.
