Porsche is stopping Cayenne SUV production at its Leipzig assembly plant because of flooding in the region.
Today’s (6 June) early shift was halted because of a shortage of chassis components. Due to high-water levels, freight trains were unable to deliver the components which are manufactured in Bratislava.

The company said it would monitor the situation before deciding when to restart production. Pre-assembly work on Panameras will continue at the plant which makes 450 cars a day.
The eastern German cities of Dresden, Halle and Meissen have been bolstering defences against flood water which has been surging from the Vltava, Mulde and Saale rivers into the Elbe. Floods are also affecting parts of Bavaria, Austria and the Czech Republic.
BMW, which also has a plant in Leipzig, said it was not facing any production disruption.
