“We are not convinced of this and we also are not looking for a partner regarding battery development,” Lorenzo Sistino was quoted as saying by Financial Times Deutschland, according to Reuters.
Instead the focus is on further developing combustion engines and alternative fuels such as natural gas and ethanol.
Reuters noted that the company said in April it was developing petrol and diesel hybrid power units that should be ready by the end of 2011.
