Priced to rival new models from Rolls-Royce (marketed by BMW from 2003) and VW-owned Bentley, Maybach deliveries start late this year with DVD entertainment systems and a rear seat refrigerator included as standard.


Analysts say world demand for such ‘super luxury’ saloons is around 9,000 to 12,000 units a year.


DaimlerChrysler expects to sell 1,000 Maybachs each year, with the US taking about 40% of production, but has not yet announced the Stateside launch date.
