Daimler’s Smart brand is adding, er, smartphone integration to its 2016 model year line using MirrorLink. Orders open on 3 July and the first vehicles will be delivered in September.
MirrorLink, as part of the Smart media system enables compatible smartphones to be integrated into the vehicle and phone content to be presented on the integrated display.

MirrorLink currently supports the Miroamer (internet radio and music entertainment), Audioteka (talking books) and Coyote (community-based real-time traffic information) apps with more to follow.
MirrorLink is a standard developed by a consortium of vehicle and IT companies which is based on a standardised interface for transmitting display content and commands. Devices and apps are certified.
The 2016 Forfour will also offer an IPad Air compatible tablet holder for the rear seat entertainment system with necessary pre-installation included in Prime and Proxy versions and optional for the Passion. The holder is a slot integrated in the driver and front passenger seat backrests.
