DaimlerChrysler AG is set to open its first four Smart dealerships in the UK selling the minicar in Britain for the first time, says Bloomberg News (24/8/00).
Alongside opening these dealerships, the auto-maker will expand its Smart website to the UK market, allowing web visitors to ask questions about the car, request a test drive, configure and price the vehicles.

The dealerships will be located in Birmingham, Central England, Milton Keynes and two in London. Manchester, Bristol and Glasgow are to be considered later, says the company.
Only left-hand-drive versions of the car will be sold until early 2002, when right-hand-drive cars, as is common in the UK, will be available, said DaimlerChrysler AG.
The Smart vehicle has not been priced for the UK, says the report.
