The DaimlerChrysler Buses and Coaches unit, which represents the Mercedes-Benz, Setra and Orion brands, sold 36,200 vehicles and chassis in 2005, up from 32,800 in 2004.


DaimlerChrysler took a 22% share of the European market although sales were flat at 9,650 units in 2005 compared to 9,710 in 2004.


In 2005 DaimlerChrysler opened a new bus plant in Hosdere, near Istanbul, to produce a new generation of Travego coaches.


In North America the company highlighted the success of hybrid vehicles being sold by its Orion brand. More than 1,000 Orion hybrid vehicles have been sold to date.
