Daimler said on Tuesday it made a net profit of EUR1,312m in the second quarter of 2010 compared with a net loss of EUR1,062m a year ago on revenue of EUR25.1bn (EUR19.6bn). It added it was targeting full-year EBIT of EUR6bn after earlier reporting Q2 EBIT of EUR2,104m compared with a EUR1,005 loss in 2009.

“Our strategy is paying off: We have a very dynamic development of unit sales and revenue in all divisions. After what was already a very good first quarter, we achieved excellent results in the second quarter,” chairman Dieter Zetsche said in a statement.
“We anticipate significant revenue growth in 2010.”
Daimler sold 496,500 vehicles in the quarter, up 27% year on year. Q2 revenue rose 28% from EUR19.6bn to EUR25.1bn this year.
Mercedes-Benz Cars unit sales rose 19% to a record 342,500 vehicles while truck sales were up 55% to 83,800.
Of note were Indonesia (+130%), the US (+44%), Brazil (+50%) and Europe (+39%).
Without elaborating Daimler said it expects unit sales to “increase significantly” over 2009’s 1.6m.
