Daimler is to set up a new Smart product unit in the Mercedes-Benz division from 1 September this year.
Former head of global business management & wholesale Europe Annette Winkler will head the new unit and will report to Mercedes-Benz EVP sales and marketing Joachim Schmidt.
A statement from Daimler noted: “The focus on the smart brand and the segment-specific orientation will be strengthened by assignment of the relevant functions from development, production and sales to the new unit.
