The new locations will focus mainly on the big cities such as Moscow and St. Petersberg, according to Joachim Schmidt, CEO of Daimler’s Central/Eastern Europe, Africa and Asian operations. He was speaking to Automobilwoche.

According to the newspaper the news partners will come on board over the next two years. At the moment 70% of Daimler’s dealers are in the two big cities and although most of the potential market is here there is also scope for expansion in other cities.

Daimler sold 15,330 cars in Russia last year, up 65% compared to 2006. This year Schmidt is expecting another sales record. Schmidt said that business in Russia is good. “There are loads of Russians who want to buy luxury products,” he said. “People want western goods.”
