Mercedes-Benz and Renault could develop premium models together according to a German newspaper.
Daimler’s chief executive Dieter Zetsche told Renault executives he would consider such a move according to Jerome Stoll, executive vice president sales and marketing at the French company, who was quoted by Boersen-Zeitung.

Stoll said: “Dieter Zetsche spoke to our leadership. Everything is possible, so long as it makes sense commercially for both partners. Mr Zetsche said the premium segment is not taboo. One has to explore this.”
Stoll also said Renault was in the process of developing new premium products, in particular the new Espace, which will be on the market in 2014.
Renault has a current joint venture with General Motors Europe and Nissan Motor to develop and build vans.
