For this purpose, an investment of €10 million will be made in the Campina plant, near São Paulo. In Latin America, Bosch is the market leader for antilock braking systems which, until now, have been imported. The decision to invest has been prompted by the increasing number of passenger cars equipped with ABS in Brazil.
Bosch has been present in Brazil since 1954, and manufactures automotive technology, automation technology, power tools, household appliances, and packaging technology there.
A team of engineers has been working since the 1980s to adapt ABS to vehicles manufactured in Brazil.
In its Brazilian subsidiaries and affiliated companies, the Bosch Group employs some 14,000 associates, and generated sales of approximately €1 billion in the Brazilian market during 2005.
