By the end of April, BMW had delivered 355,303 vehicles to customers, an increase over the same period last year of more than 19%. April#;s 94,827 deliveries were up 24.7% on April 2001.
The motorcycles segment also reported double-digit growth in the first four months of 14% to 35,998 units.

“For the first time we have the opportunity in 2002 to deliver more than one million BMW and MINI cars to customers the world over,” said outgoing BMW chairman Joachim Milberg who handed over to Helmut Panke at today’s AGM.
New products to be launched this year include diesel variants of the 7 Series and the new Z3 which be introduced first this autumn in the US and arrive in Europe next spring.
Mini sales were 38,967 units in the first four months of the year and production originally limited to 100,000 units a year will now be increased by 15-20%.
Minis with diesel engines will be launched next year following the agreement with Toyota a few days ago to supply a 1.4-litre power unit.
The engine, recently introduced into the Toyota Yaris line-up, will be built in Japan and modified for performance and physical fit into the Mini’s engine bay.
The Oxford production plant will build 10-20,000 diesel versions a year.
