Buyers have been able to place pre-orders for the car in all major markets since autumn last year and demand is already exceeding the planned production volume during ramp-up, the automaker said.
BMW added that the introduction of optional laser headlights is scheduled for next autumn when the i8 will become the world’s first production car to offer the innovative lighting technology which is said to be around 30% more energy-efficient than the standard LED headlights and provide more powerful road illumination, with a range of up to 600m.
