BMW Group has had its best ever September with 199,799 vehicles delivered to customers, an increase of 5.3% on the same month last year.

The first three quarters of 2014 were also the most successful in the company’s history with sales totalling 1,529,880, 6.5% ahead of last year.

Board member for sales and marketing, Ian Robertson, said: “This increase in sales comes despite external factors continuing to influence a few individual markets. BMW i can celebrate several milestones this month: more than 10,000 BMW i3s delivered to customers this year and 341 BMW i8s since sales began in the summer.”

September saw worldwide sales of BMW brand vehicles grow 6.1% to 167,584 vehicles. Global sales of the brand in the first three quarters of 2014 rose 9.1% on the same period last year with 1,319,492 vehicles.

Mini sales in September were up almost 2% to 31,871 while Rolls-Royce remains on target for another record year in 2014 with 2,859 Phantom, Ghost and Wraith models sold in the nine-month period from January to September, up 24.3% over last year.

The BMW group saw an increase in sales in all major sales regions in September; Sales of BMW and Mini brand vehicles in Asia totalled 56,429 in September, up 4.5% on the same month last year and year-to-date sales in the region are up 14.2% compared to the same period in 2013.

The first three quarters saw sales in mainland China increase 17.9% to 335,863 and sales in South Korea also posted double-digit growth, up 13.8% to 33,476.

A total of 37,882 BMW and Mini brand vehicles were delivered to customers in the Americas during, a 2.7% increase while sales are running 3.7% ahead for the first three quarters at 337,077.

European sales also hit a new high for September with a total of 99,585 units sold, up 7%.
