BMW group worldwide sales rose 5.6% year on year to 141,093 units in February, a record for the month. The year to date (YTD) tally of 273,999, up 6.6%, was also a record.

The BMW also had a record February with sales up 8.6% to 124,839. YTD volume rose 8.9% to 242,017 led by the X3 with sales up 15.5% to 23,980. 5 series sales rose 11.4% to 55,758.

Just ahead of sales of the redesigned hatchback starting mid-March, February Mini sales, unsurprisngly, dipped 13.8% to 15,975. Clubman volume, however, rose 22.5% to 2,532 YTD.

Region-wise, BMW and Mini sales in Asia were up 20.2% to 96,133 YTD with February China volume up 29.1% to 30,281.

Though US YTD sales were flat at 45,272 deliveries, Volume in Brazil – where an assembly plant is in the works – was up 54% to 2,420 and Mexican deliveries rose 14.3% to 2,194.

European sales were off 1.5% last month to 60,321 with YTD volume down 0.2% to 111,654.
