Sales of BMW-brand vehicles fell 3.5% last month, as customers waited for the new version of the 5-series sedan, Bloomberg News said.

BMW sold 79,910 BMW-brand vehicles in May compared with 82,790 units in May 2002, the news agency said, citing a company statement. Five-month sales fell 6.5% to 373,200. Total May sales, including the Mini brand, rose 0.4% to 94,410.

Sales of the Mini rose 29% in May to 14,500 units and 49% to 74,640 cars in the first five months of the year, Bloomberg News added.
