According to the German consumer magazine, auto motor und sport, BMW’s finance director, Michael Ganal, has indicated that the success of the BMW’s cooperation with PSA Peugeot Citroen has given BMW an appetite for further partnerships.

The magazine said that a cooperation with Mercedes could be announced soon, possibly before Christmas.

Ganal said that BMW has not yet decided whether to introduce a fourth brand, alongside the BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce brands.

He did say that BMW had been giving thought to how it could respond to the trend towards ‘mega-cities’, and develop new vehicle concepts accordingly.

“It is possible that in the future we would decide not to establish such vehicle concepts under the roof of our existing brands, but that we could develop new brands for this purpose,” said Ganal.
