Volkswagen’s Audi luxury division reported a strong order book for the the first three months of this year after demand in China, North America and Europe saw 39% sales jump in January.
Sales chief Peter Schwarsenbauer restated Audi’s target of raising sales by 5.3% to 1m this year.

Audi sold 77,800 vehicles last month, with deliveries in China more than doubling to 16,800. Sales rose 38% in the US and 128% in Canada as well as showing gains in all major European markets, led by a 43% jump in the UK.
The luxury division’s global sales fell 5.4% last year, the first annual decline in 14 years but it plans to add eight models by 2015 and invest EUR7.3 bn (USD10 bn) in vehicle development and plant upgrades to the end of 2012.
