Audi has introduced a second, larger, five-door ‘Sportback’ model called A7 to supplement the A5 launched about a year ago. The car, which shares many parts with the A6 and A8, will make its public debut in Russia, a prime target market, at the Moscow motor show.

The A7 will be launched with two petrol and two diesel engines – 2.8 FSI with 204PS and 280Nm, 3.0 TFSI with 300PS and 440Nm, 3.0 TDI with 204PS and 400Nm, 3.0 TDI with 245PS and 500Nm.

‘Multitronic’ CVT automatic will be optional for front-wheel-drive versions while quattro 4WDs sill get a seven-speed ‘S tronic’ twin clutch unit.

Options include parallel park assist, all-LED headlights, head-up display and adaptive air suspension.

The A7 is about the same size as the A6 sedan and is the first Audi to offer the optional head-up display. This projects key information, including economy and speed data and navigation routing, onto the windscreen so that it appears to be around 2.5m ahead of the driver.
