According to Automobilwoche, 30,000 new cars were stored outside when a hail storm hit. The exact number of cars damaged is not yet known.

The cars were destined for export, but now have to go through quality control again, according to a Volkswagen spokesman. Around 100 experts from all the automaker’s German plants have been brought in to do the testing. The cars are being put through a special light tunnel where even the smallest damage can be detected.

The damage will mean delays to delivery times. It is not yet clear whether the cars will be repaired or what will happen to the damaged cars.

Volkswagen is insured for such damage, reported Automobilwoche.
