Peugeot is to launch its Mu pay as you go mobility service in the UK by the end of the year. The service, run through dealers, allows anyone to hire any type of Peugeot vehicle – a cabriolet for the weekend, MPV for a family trip, van for the Ikea flatpacks or even a motor scooter or bicycle.
UK MD Jon Goodman said the service is accessed via a pre-paid card that can be topped up on the internet.
Goodman said: “It’s a revolutionary service and we are the only company to offer it. It means existing customers can borrow a different mode of transport for a day or two plus it gives us access to potential new customers who want to try one of our vehicles.”
Mu by Peugeot, as the service is branded, is currently being trialled in France and Goodman plans to introduce the scheme into the UK by the end of 2010.
He added: “We are currently monitoring the French operation and we will put together pricing details later this year.”
Cardholders will be able to rent four and two-wheelers as well as accessories such as satellite navigation or a roof box.
