“The new Punto will not play a role next year,” Demel told Reuters at the Geneva motor show, adding: “If we launch it next year it will be so late in the year that it will not make a difference to results.”

Reuters noted that the Punto is Fiat’s top-selling car and the new version is due to be launched in 2005.

The current model was refreshed for 2003.

Replacement for current Punto won’t affect Fiat’s 2005 results
