The 4.5-metre long wagon has an unusually long wheelbase and will offer claimed class-leading passenger and luggage space. European buyers will have a choice of 18 models with three equipment levels (LX, EX and TX), five engines, manual or automatic transmissions, and options.

Compared with the hatchback already on sale, the wagon’s overall length is 235 mm longer, with all of that increase behind the rear wheels, and overall height is up by 10 mm. Luggage capacity goes up to a total of 534 litres – loaded to the bottom of the rear windows – almost 200 litres more than the hatchback.

The tailgate, claimed unique in the C-segment has top hinges have been moved forward by 225 mm (compared hatchback), so that it has reduced outswing and upswing, allowing users to stand closer to the car and the tailgate to be fully opened, in restricted parking spaces.

Ceed wagon sales start in August and a three-door Sporty Hatch version follows in December.
