Hyundai has released the first image of the redesigned i20 ahead of its world debut at the Geneva show tomorrow (6 March).

The new model features refreshed styling, enhanced equipment and the lowest CO2 emissions of any conventional powertrain car on sale today, the automaker said.

Four powertrain options include the new 75PS 1.1-litre, three cylinder U-II diesel engine which, in ‘Blue Drive’ tune emits 84g/km of CO2 – a figure claimed to be lower than any other car with a conventional powertrain. The engine was developed at Hyundai’s European R&D centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany.

Another sub-100 g/km diesel will also be offered. In Blue Drive form, the upgraded 90PS 1.4-litre U-II engine emits 96g/km.

The i20’s width (1,710mm), height (1,490mm) and wheelbase (2,525mm) are unchanged while overall length is up 55 mm to 3995 mm.
