Hyundai Motor’s luxury brand, Genesis, has launched its first electric vehicle in South Korea, a battery-electric version of the G80 midsize sedan.
The G80 EV is powered by 87 kilowatt-hour (KWh) battery pack, giving it a range of close to 430km (268 miles) on a single charge. The batteries can be 80% charged in just 22 minutes thanks to the 400V/800V multi rapid charging system.

A solar panel roof option can generate an average of 730 watt-hours of electricity.
The all-wheel drive model has a power output of 370hp, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in 4.9 seconds. The model is priced at KRW83m (US$72,300), exclusive of government incentives.
Genesis also plans to launch a purpose-built EV in South Korea later this year, the GV60 crossover, based on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 platform.
The Genesis brand’s global sales increased by 33% to 72,710 units in the first half of 2021.
