Geely Auto has launched production of a second model in Indonesia, the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid SUV, as the Chinese automaker continues its expansion into global markets. The first Starray EM-I, known in China as the Galaxy Xingjian 7, rolled off the production line on 10th October at an assembly plant in Purwakarta, West Java, owned by the PT Handal Indonesia Motor.
The facility began local production of Geely’s first model in Indonesia, Geely EX5 (Galaxy E5) battery electric vehicle (BEV), earlier this year, with local sales amounting to 1,876 units to date. Geely confirmed that it plans to introduce a third model at the plant, its best-selling Geely Xingyuan, in the next few months.
