Fuso has announced a joint venture with Ample to work on battery swapping for the electric eCanter light truck.
Traditional charging in Japan can take up to 10 hours using AC or a few hours with DC.
Battery swapping is faster and and cost effective. The Ample system can swap eCanter batteries at a dedicated facility in five minutes.
A public road trial in Japan is scheduled for this coming winter.
