Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) announced that it has launched the Canter light-duty truck across its dealer network in Japan.  Daimler Truck’s Japanese subsidiary claims the new Canter offers improved fuel efficiency and enhanced environmental performance compared with previous models, with all of its models now meeting Japan’s FY2025 Fuel Efficiency Standards (JH25).

MFTBC confirmed that the new Canter’s engine efficiency has been improved, while the variable geometry turbo control has been optimized. The vehicle’s design also has “softer features,” with a revised front bumper shape and standard door visors that reduce air resistance. “As a result, the new Canter exceeds the JH25 mode fuel efficiency standard by approximately 5%, with certain models achieving fuel efficiency improvements of up to 10% above the standard,” the company added.

The 4P10+T2 engine has a maximum power output 96 kW and is coupled with the company’s dual-clutch AMT Duonic 2.0 transmission. It is fitted with a newly designed driver display that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
