Renault has taken the wraps off the Latitude, its new global family saloon which will make its world debut at the Moscow motor show in August followed by a European launch at the Paris Salon in October.

The Latitude – billed by one UK consumer magazine as ‘Renault’s [Citroen] C5’ – has its roots in South Korea, based on alliance partner Samsung’s SM5, although it profits extensively from Renault’s engineering expertise.

As a replacement for the Laguna, the new model has generous exterior dimensions, large boot and elegant styling.

The complete equipment list will be revealed at a later date, but will place emphasis on innovation and comfort, including a dual-mode air ioniser with double fragrance diffuser, triple-zone climate control, a massaging driver’s seat, Bose Premium audio and Renault keyless card.

The automaker said the Latitude is a high-end package that will position it as the flagship of the company’s international saloon car range. It will go on sale this autumn, in Asia, Africa, the Gulf States, Mexico, Turkey, Russia and Australia.

The European version will follow towards the end of the year.
