“What we know is this inquiry does not concern any specific products,” a Valeo spokeswoman in Paris told just-auto. “It covers several business lines, that is all we know for now.

“We received this enquiry for information on 19 July. Of course we will co-operate fully and actively with the US authorities. We will provide the information but I don’t know precisely the next stage.”

An earlier statement from the component producer noted the scope of the inquiry appeared to cover “many products manufactured or supplied by Valeo and added it was “Valeo’s policy to prohibit anti-competitive behaviour.

News of the inquiry comes just a few days after Denso and Mitsubishi Electric said they were “fully co-operating” with investigators from the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC).

The automotive suppliers are being investigated by the JFTC in relation to Japan’s anti-monopoly act regarding sales of certain automotive components.
