IVI is a constantly evolving field that encompasses automotive infotainment products and services such as music, news, multimedia, navigation, telephone and the Internet. Connections can be made via sources outside of the vehicle, including mobile phones and MP3 players using Bluetooth, WIFI or other means.
Valeo says that, as a major supplier of driver interface solutions, it aims to provide correspondent hardware and software platforms enabling advanced connectivity and driver interface technologies. Valeo says it has been anticipating this architectural evolution for several years in the development of its product offer which includes integrated control panel modules combining climate control and various other functions, tactile surfaces and large touch screens with haptics feedback.
The GENIVI Alliance is described by Valeo as driving the development and adoption of advanced IVI systems, which will increase the demand for new connectivity solutions. By joining the Alliance, Valeo says it will help accelerate the pace at which these new solutions can be made available to automakers.
