Valeo has announced that it is offering training for dealerships to support their sales staff in conveying ‘important messages’ to prospective car buyers. The first such training program for optional Xenon headlamps, a lighting technology which significantly increases night visibility when compared to conventional solutions, has been successfully completed with selected car dealerships in France.

Valeo’s selected training programs are designed for car dealerships to help sales staff ‘better understand what is behind these options in terms of technology, and what they can bring to car buyers in terms of benefits’.
Valeo says that the need to support sales staff with additional training was highlighted following increasing consumer interest in the new Xenon technology.
“We are delighted to be working with car manufacturers on such training programs. Many innovations are introduced first as options on cars and it is therefore essential to be able to explain to the car buyer what benefits this option offers. The majority of innovations are now based on complex electrical components and electronics which increasingly may require additional training programs for car sales staff. We expect that this will be the first of many,” commented Hans-Peter Kunze, Valeo Senior Vice President, Sales and Business Development.
“Consumers want to know more about headlamp options as it is not only a style differentiating feature but also vital for night driving and in poor weather. Sales personnel who are in direct contact with the car buyers now have the opportunity to learn more about this specific optional function, from the type of bulb used to an explanation as to what causes its appealing bluish-white light appearance,” Kunze added.
The short intensive training sessions, which took place at the customer’s dealerships, focused on the driver benefits which Xenon headlamps embody due to their increased road illumination compared to halogen lamps.
Since introducing the training sessions, Valeo says sales of Xenon headlamps have increased by nearly 50 percent. Further such sessions are planned with other European vehicle manufacturers this year.
