Valeo has announced that its ‘next-generation thermal systems’ – including both engine cooling and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) – will be fitted to a future Chrysler Group vehicle. Financial details were not disclosed.

Valeo was awarded total systems responsibility for the design and development of the complete thermal system, optimised to meet the specific characteristics of the vehicle. Valeo says that these designs and program enhancements ‘generate a more cost-effective climate control and engine cooling system that will significantly enhance market appeal’.
The HVAC system is based on technologies that incorporate the “Cross Flow Baffle.” This allows fine-tuning of temperature stratification in previously unattainable small volumes, ‘ensuring optimal occupant comfort’ according to Valeo. This system also incorporates six new patents ranging from unit architecture to kinematics.
