French newspaper Le Figaro says that with sales of its Modus small people-carrier continuing to disappoint, and the ageing third version of its ‘Clio’ small car continuing to perform well, French carmaker Renault is considering a change in strategy.

The factory in Valladolid, Spain, which produces the Modus could begin producing Clios again. The factory is currently operating at a third capacity, producing 100,000 vehicles a year, Le Figaro reported.
Renault blames the performance of its new car on the innovative, small people-carrier market in general, which has not seen the expected levels of growth, the paper said. The Modus is, meanwhile, around 11 per cent more expensive at entry level than a Clio.
