Renault has confirmed it will produce a new commercial vehicle at its Sandouville plant in France, although has not revealed if it will be a new version of its Trafic model.
The French automaker is remaining coy about what form the new model will take but did add the vehicle will enter production from 2013.

“Renault has confirmed Sandouville will begin producing a commercial vehicle but we have not yet confirmed [it will be] the Trafic,” a spokeswoman for the manufacturer told just-auto from Paris.
“Production will begin in 2013 – we are not saying the name of the vehicle yet. Renault-Nissan are in discussions but no decision has been made.”
Renault also declined to say if the move would see production of the Trafic – currently built in Luton UK in a joint venture with Opel/Vauxhall and in Barcelona with alliance partner Nissan – transfer permanently to France.
There has been an element of political pressure in France to secure jobs at Renault’s Sandouville site in the north of country, but the spokeswoman declined to confirm if that was the case.
