The two French carmakers suffered further sales declines in their home market in April, and their combined market share slipped to just above half.


Renault is suffering adverse product cycles and its car sales declined 16% in April. PSA Peugeot-Citroen car sales were off 7.2%, the CCFA car association said.


CCFA said the overall new car market was down 4.9% to 172,661 vehicles and dropped 9.7%, when adjusted for the same number of working days.


Over the January to April period, new car registrations were 2.3% lower at 691,852 vehicles.


The market share of the two French car makers slipped to 52.7% in the first four months (55.9% in the same period of last year).
